Real Revolution, not regime change! Hands off Libya! Syria! Iran!

Liberty, Action, Democracy (LAD) is greatly concerned over recent events in the Middle East. There have been a series of popular movements there that have toppled dictatorships there. This  Arab Spring has, in some cases, seen the rebirth of popular and democratic movements in many Arab and Muslim countries. However, the Arab Spring is a mixed phenomenon. In some cases, we have seen an amazing explosion of people power. In other cases, the United States, England, and France have sought to use the Arab Spring to manipulate the peoples of the region, to instill new dictatorships more loyal to imperialism, and to carry out neoliberal, radical capitalist restructuring of Arab and Muslim economies.  The imperialists are hard at work trying to turn genuine progressive movements into CIA-backed so-called “color revolutions” or regime change. The United States, the European imperialists, and the Gulf Arab states are trying to hijack the movements in order to increase their own power in the region. They seek to destroy regimes and economies that are not totally subservient to the West. They overthrew the regime in Libya. Now, the Libyan people suffer under a failed state where  armed gangs rule the streets. Tribalism and anti-African racism are rampant. The West uses the chaos in Libya to steal the oil and increase the West’s military presence in the region through institutions like Africom. The West also seeks to send Syria into chaos in order to undermine resistance movements in Lebanon and Palestine, in order to increase Western, Israeli, and Gulf Arab power in the region. Regime change in Syria is a step toward a Western attack on Iran.

LAD opposes all wars of aggression. LAD stands with poor and oppressed people everywhere. LAD opposes all imperialist attacks. Hands off Libya! Hands off Syria! Hands off Iran! LAD stands for real revolution, not phony regime change!
